An update will make Full HD video recording possible for the Sony QX and will improve the manual controls

We’ll have to wait until January, but Sony has announced a firmware update for the Cyber-shot QX10 and the QX100 to make them capable of recording Full HD video. Both models are capable of recording 1440 x 1080 video, which will be improved to 1920 x 1080 at 30 FPS thanks to this update.

Also, the sensitivity will be improved to 12.800 ISO for the QX100 (currently it sits at 3.200 ISO) and it will go from 1.600 to 3.200 ISO for the QX10. The former will also feature a very fast manual mode thanks to this new, exciting firmware update.

Sony PlayMemories Mobile

The app capable of controlling these cameras from a smart phone or tablet will also be updated. Sony PlayMemories Mobile version 4.0 is now available for iOS and Android.

Along with a new browser to view and manage your pictures, the update will noticeably improve the transfer speed of the iOS version. Android users will have to wait a few months to enjoy this new feature, Sony stated.
