Just rumors, of course, and they’ll never be anything else; but, truth is that when sensor-Canon are merged, their maybe something true in it. The media is talking about the possibility of Canon working in a new technology like Faveon sensors for the new Full Frame cameras, coming next year.
In reality, very Little is known, but is safe to say that there is a big initiative in the Nippon’s brand to try a 180° turn in quality and sensor’s performance; which they have not look at in the last few years, comparing them to their closest rivals. As it looks like, the new sensor will go in the cameras of the segment “prosumer” with an FF sensor (EOS 1 and 5D’s). Right or not, Canon desperately needs a change that will make them take a jump without going behind the competition, which is having a better ranking when it comes to image quality.
