Thinking about novelties to enjoy our free time, Nikon has renewed their best compact cameras. Among these new Coolpix we’re going to take a look at two of them in particular. The Coolpix S33 and the Coolpix AW130. The two cameras are very robust and prepared for war, although there are some differences between them. Let’s take a look.
The Nikon Coolpix S33 is the simplest one, and maybe thought for those who are going to have their first compact camera, for the youngest. What catches our attention about this camera is that it’s shock resistant for drops of up to 1.5m of height, resists temperatures of 10°C and dust. According to Nikon, you can also swim with it and submerge it to up to 10 meters, where it also has underwater face detector.
In terms of technical features, it has a CMOS sensor of 13 megapixels. It has a direct button for recording and Full HD resolution. The zoom is 3x and thanks to Dynamic Fine Zoom, it can be multiplied to 6x. Besides all that, it’s a very light camera, it weighs about 180g. As it’s a familiar, simple and fun camera, it has several scene modes that will save a lot of complications and it’s available in different colors: blue, yellow, white, or magenta.
The Nikon Coolpix AW130 is another thing. What we like about this camera is that wide-angle lens of 23mm and f/2.8. It’s very bright and won’t let you down when filming night landscapes or underwater shots. It can be submerged to up to 30 meters, which means you can dive with it without an additional underwater housing. It can also detect faces underwater and can be dropped from two meters of height. Something else about S33. Besides being sealed against dust, and beach sand, take it into account, it also resists temperatures below zero, and as low as -10°C.
It has a CMOS sensor of 16mp, and it’s thought to be used with social networks, it’s compatible with NFC and has WiFi connection. This time the zoom is 5x and allows to capture images of up to 10x, with the same system as the previous one. It’s great because you can save geolocation data thanks to the compatibility of integrated GPS/GLONASS/QZSS systems. You can register travel routes and save locations. Up to 30 locations in a world map that’s integrated in the camera. And altitude or depth data can be printed.
It has high performance vibration reduction, VR, which will be very useful when using zoom. Besides, you record everything in Full HD. You see, the two cameras are very complete and are prepared for almost anything. Don’t forget to take it on your next adventure.
