Nikon has announced the new Nikon 1 J5, a compact camera with Nikon 1 interchangeable lenses noteworthy for its new design, and for being the first Nikon with video recording in 4K.

The Nikon 1 J5 has a CX format backlit sensor (four times larger than the sensor of most compact cameras), plus it captures images at 20.8 megapixels and it’s capable of recording videos in 4K format. It has a large focus speed and a firing rate of 20 fps with continuous AF in the new Sports mode. It’s also equipped with a flip vertical touch screen, manual controls, Wi-Fi connectivity and NFC.

The Nikon 1 J5 is the first Nikon 1 camera has a large backlit CX format sensor of 20.8 megapixels. It incorporates a new generation EXPEED 5A image processor that provides an ISO range of 160-12800. The EXPEED 5A processor is an essential part of the fast autofocus in the camera, as well as the intelligent noise reduction and HD image generation.

With high-speeds in continuous shooting, the Nikon 1 J5 can shoot at 20 fps with continuous AF or up to 60 fps with fixed focus from the first frame. The AF system uses 171 points to lock focus on the subject quickly, allowing you to change instantly between the 105 AF points of phase detection and the rapid contrast detection AF.

Aside from videos in 4K, the Nikon 1 J5 can also capture high definition video (Full HD) at 1080/60p and HD video in slow motion (120 fps). The E-VR (Electronic Vibration Reduction) function keeps the footage defined, even when shooting with the zoom at full capacity. The Nikon 1 J5 is also the first camera in the Nikon 1 range to include the video shooting at intervals (Timelapse) mode, allowing you to capture images every 5, 10 or 30 seconds.

To share all our catches the Nikon 1 J5 has NFC (Near Field Communication) connectivity and Wi-Fi. With the Wi-Fi function you can control the camera from a tablet or smartphone.

The Nikon 1 J5 is available in three color combinations: black body color and black lens body, a silver / white body with the lens body in silver, or a silver/black body with the lens body in silver. The kit lens is a 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 PD-ZOOM.
